I am sorry I've been gone for so long. Life got in the way. I was still able to keep up with sports though, never fear.
While I was gone, major sporting events occurred. The NBA Draft, the Masters, the Olympic Trials, just to name a few. Of those events, I will be focusing on the NBA Draft, mostly because in recent days there have been numerous articles about DeMarcus Cousins and stories of the summer league. This yearly event occurs in June, and for the first time ever, players were able to submit their name for draft without forfeiting their eligibility.
There were no real surprises with this years draft, with Louisiana State power forward Ben Simmons drafted first overall by Philadelphia Sixers. Kris Dunn, a Providence College stand-out who opted out of entering the draft after his junior year to receive a degree, went fifth. Thought projected as a fourth overall pick, Dunn was picked up by the Minnesota Timberwolves. Thon Miller, the high school student that stands at 7'00" is already making a splash in the Milwaukee summer games.
This new class of athletes will make an impact on the NBA game.
