Everyone loves rumors...let's run through a few and see what makes sense.
Cliff Lee
He seems to be a perfect fit for the Orioles, but it would be a shame to sell the farm and lose what is being built there under Buck Showalter. The team needs to decide quickly how much trying to chase down the Rays and Red Sox means to them before they give up players that will help them have those teams behind them in the coming years. Lee has a no trade, and Bundy is out with Tommy John. Doesn't seem there will be a fit here. Given the Red Sox past, I like them as a fit instead.
Hunter Pence
The man is making too much for his skillset and low OBP. I wouldn't touch him if I were any team. Rangers make the most sense however with the brutality that is David Murphy and god knows what will happen with the steroid story involving Nelson Cruz.
Pirates
I would love to see the Pirates make a deal and beat out the Cards. All the talk is Rios according to sources in Chicago and CBS' Jon Heyman. I am not a big Rios fan either, but he might provide some helpful depth to that team if they don't have to give up much in terms of prospects and take on salary instead. Bud Norris is also the subject of rumors and could provide some more depth to the pitching staff.
Definitely not the hottest year for trades. But a Lee move would provide some theater. Many hoops to jump through, though.
