Boston Sports Gives Inspiring Week

It's been a while.

But it was too an inspiring week to not get back in the blog game here.

There was Big Papi's well-timed F bomb, Bruin fans singing the National Anthem, and of course Neil Diamond's stirring rendition of Sweet Caroline.

The city of Boston made the entire country proud this week as they responded with integrity to the horrible bombings of last Monday. This was a perfect example of sports being a unifier and a crutch to lean on when the rest of the world is facing serious problems.

Sports in this country brings us all together. Whether it be a Super Bowl party, a night at the bar for the game, or March Madness, sports gives us all a chance to get away from it all and show some unity. And that was on no better display this week.

How cool was it that Neil showed up at Fenway as his own idea? From MLB.com:

"Neil Diamond called the switchboard at Fenway Park at about 12:30 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon.
'Hey, I'm here,' he said, according to Red Sox officials. 'Can I come?'
The 72-year-old, who had flown himself to Boston just for Saturday's 1:10 p.m. game against the Royals, surprised the 35,152 in attendance after the top of the eighth inning and sung the song that's made him synonymous with Fenway Park."
